My Story
I didn't always know I wanted to be a writer. A storyteller, yes. I have had a dramatic flair since I waltzed out of the womb. Unsuprisingly, I studied Acting and Vocal Performance in college and became an actor. This dream was short-lived after I made a career change and moved to the middle of the country... good ole Nebraska (yes, this land of corn is where dreams are made).

Since high school, I have used writing to process all of my challenging—and at times, strange—life experiences. It began with a dystopian book that was basically the post-nuclear fallout version of The Hunger Games. Knowing it would never be publishable, I kissed it goodbye and laid it to rest in my old MacBook Pro from 2012. After moving to Omaha, I started a new book. Yep, you guessed it! The YA fantasy book Beggar's Byway. After starting it in 2019 and writing throughout the pandemic, I took a long break to date and marry my best friend, graduate my master's program, and get a Siberian cat, Coco. When I pulled up the document to my fantasy book again in 2023, I realized there might be something special within the pages. I joined a writer's group, split my manuscript into two books, and took the plunge into publishing this elven tale.

Due to my unique experiences in clashing cultures and environments, I care deeply about portraying a diverse array of characters and people from all walks of life. My passion is sharing hope and proving that light that can survive in life's darkest moments. Having been through an assortment of traumatic events at a young age and walking alongside people through their most bleak times, I highly value real and authentic characters. No cookie-cutter, hallmark heroines or heroes.

Due to my experience as an actor, character development and dialogue are my favorite things to write. World building happens in my mind and isn't always easily translated to the page, but don't worry, I'm working on it! I love soft magic with hard magic elements, strong and sassy heroines who don't need a man (but enjoy having a partner who is their equal), and a good roast between two characters is always a win.
